Mission and Purpose of Saint Joseph High School Campus Ministry

The sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, from their foundation have been dedicated to the exercise of “all of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy of which women is capable and which will most benefit the…dear neighbor”.

As A faith community unified by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, we share in this mission to promote justice, love and peace for the “dear neighbor” through the charism of unity and reconciliation. A thorough understanding and practice of our faith is essential to developing the whole person within Saint Joseph’s faith community, family, local and church communities.

“The faith community, model of Catholic secondary schools, provides a vision of the school as a ministerial community, one in which administrators, teachers and the entire staff accept their call to support one another and thereby to teach as Jesus did. This model invites us to share our vision from which students come.” (To Teach as Jesus Did #83). Ministry is our response to the message and mission of Jesus. Campus Ministry at Saint Joseph High School is our living out of this call.

The purpose of Campus Ministry at Saint Joseph High School is to facilitate faith development within the school community and to help each individual take personal responsibility for her own faith. To realize this goal, the Campus works in collaboration with our school’s chaplains, religious, and lay members of our school community and the Department of Religious Studies. The Campus Ministry Team encourages the pastoral, spiritual and moral development of each student on campus. In partnership with the administration, faculty, staff, and students, we endeavor to continue the mission and message of Jesus by creating opportunities for student’s to experience daily living in a faith community, develop a faith commitment and encourage a desire to serve others.
